Group 3:

I truly enjoyed the theme of our presentation- heart, mind, and body. It was interesting to learn about the history of health in the United States and how organizations came about to aid public health. With these organizations studies were conducted and understanding diseases became easier, allowing health protocols to be developed. Today health is very important to everyone and with all the research out on heart health and overall body health it really just scares you into taking care of yourself. But I guess that’s if you love yourself enough and/or are mature enough to have discipline to take care of yourself.  Eating and working out does not come easy to everyone so it can be hard to accomplish. I learned how important heart health is, being that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Now that’s scary…

We only have one heart so it is really important we take care of it and we can do this by eating healthy and working out regularly. It sounds easy but it can be hard but it is important to get it done because we only have one body. Keeping your body in shape can help you to maintain a healthy weight, improve your overall physical and mental health, reduce your risk of chronic diseases, increase your energy levels, improve your confidence and self-esteem, improve your sleep, and help you to look and feel your best. Additionally, regular physical exercise can help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve your mood, and help to reduce the effects of aging. Being healthy overall just has so many benefits. It’s something that can be done to improve one’s self or something people can do with friends or family, bringing them closer together.

Lastly, I believe our presentation went well. The only thing is it did have a lot of videos at the end. My group is a hard working group and we work well together so I hope you enjoyed our presentation and was able to take away at least one thing from it

Group 2

Group 2’s presentation was nice, they were a little low when presenting but overall they did a great job on their theme-paying it forward. I like how they had the names on their slides and how it was designed. Besides on how it looked, I learned about how impactful paying it forward can be. Being kind to one costs nothing and treating others how you’d like to be treated is not hard at all. Though our world is a harsh place and not all sunshine and rainbows, it is the little things in life that can bring light out of the dark. I loved the video about the Starbucks where one woman sparked a domino effect of 300+ people paying for the food/drinks of the car behind them. The woman did one act of kindness in the morning and it kept going till later that night. It’s such a beautiful thing to see kindness like that, people showing kind love to others they do not even know. I also loved the movie that was suggested, I have not watched it but the story was lovely. The little boy started a movement of paying it forward, he was not afraid to show kindness to those who needed it and seeing that come from a child just hits different. He went against his mother and let a homeless man live in the house to help him, so sweet of him. The movie just makes you feel inspired because the boy started this movement by doing a school project and he ended up changing the world, even if it was just a little.

It was interesting to find out the origin of “paying it forward” as well; how it was first really mentioned in a play called Dyskolos and was inspired by Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Woody Hayes who have been quoted using the idea through their writings, teachings, or coaching. Most of these references were made regarding the idea of money and lending of funds to be

paid forward rather than being paid back. In the end there are many ways to pay it forward or to spread kindness and love to one another, we are all capable of it, it just comes down to are we willing to.Are we good enough? brave enough?

Group 3

I enjoyed Group 3’s presentation, although I wish it was longer. It was a little short  and I feel as if it could have had a little bit more information on it. Just because self care is very important to our society today. From their presentation I learned that Self-care is anything that involves bettering your mind, body and overall health. Things like going to the salon or the spa to take your mind off things once a month could be considered self-care. Just from my prior knowledge I know that other countries prioritize self-care more and there are also some that do not at all. But we can see how self-care affects one and how it can be beneficial. Self-care is a form of self love, which is something important for everyone. It is your responsibility to take care of yourself and love yourself. I’m sure you have heard the saying “ how can you love someone else when you do not love yourself?”, which is so true because loving yourself is showing others how to love you. Loving yourself first will bring you happiness within itself and peace . One day of self-care can change your whole mood and can allow one to stay motivated. Mother’s are a great example, they do everything for their family. They clean, cook, take care of their children, does laundry, and maybe even take care of pets. This is a lot for one person to do everyday/week and it can become very tiring. But taking one day to be alone and do things they like to do would change their attitude towards their daily routine because I’m sure all mothers love what they do, but they’re also a person and every person has their own interests or hobbies.

I believe that all these three themes are the key to happiness. If we all practiced these three things we would all be our best selves and maybe the world would be a better place.
